CareerHandlers is constantly evolving. We field many questions about the services we provide and are constantly looking for feedback on candidates needs. Below are some frequently asked questions for you to get started. If you have further questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to being a part of your path to success.

Q. Why CareerHandlers?

A. Because we are marketing agents. Not to be confused with outplacement companies, employment agencies or job listing services. We simply want you to have all the tools necessary for creating a personal branding campaign.

Q. Why should I upgrade my resume and create a branding campaign?

A. It is important to understand that there are two types of potential employers that review resumes:

1. The Scanner-The scanner is someone who is typically looking for very specific skillsets. They know what they want and where to look for it. A resume typically does the trick to have those skills revealed.

2. The Investigator-The Investigator reviews the overall resume attributes but wants more information prior to an interview. To date, the Investigator's access to specific information about you has been limited to one or two pages of data listed on white linen paper or worse, an onscreen PDF. At CareerHandlers we aim to give the Investigator the ability to do things like link to your previous company, see instant references or view photos of a volunteer project you worked on. We believe that information on demand is vital for an efficient and timely first introduction to employers. The portrait also gives easy access to your resume in two ways. They can view it directly on the site or they can download a PDF version to take with them. A convenience they are sure to appreciate.

Q. Where do I host the site?

A. You have two options in hosting. You can host it on the CareerHandlers website or you can purchase your own domain name and host it there. We are prepared to help along the way in what would be the right option for you.

Q. What are the costs?

A. Currently CareerHandlers is a consultive design process. Depending where you are currently with the development of your own resume will determine the amount of service you may need. We realize that the last thing a job seeker needs is heavy costs in a difficult time. We have built in efficiencies that enable us to keep charges to a minimum.

Q. Will you help me write and edit my resume?

A. Currently we do not offer resume writing. We use the resume that you have crafted and reviewed and begin the branding process from that point.

Q. Is this a Social Network. Is this like LinkedIn?

A. No, not really. Consider us your personal Ad Agency or branding firm. We will build and host your website and assist in all you need to present yourself in the best way possible. Sites like LinkedIn, Zoom and other social communities are vital. We consider them media outlets to tell your message. It is vital to show prospective employers that you don’t stop there. You are willing to go the extra mile to tell people you are the very best in class. Basically telling your story in a more compelling, professional way.

Q. What is an example of how I would distribute the site.

A. There are many. For example, have you ever been at a social event and wanted to let someone know you are “in between successes”. The last thing you want to do is carry around resumes or alert the world of your needs in an uncomfortable way. Well, imagine again being at that same party and having a simple, discreet CareerHandlers card, with your site address, to hand to someone if they agree to assist in your search. No fumbling for pens to exchange numbers or hoping for an email follow up. You have given them your resume in stellar form. The viral nature of your online portrait begins immediately.

"I have to say that this is one of the most savvy ways I have seen anyone pursue a job. A very compelling idea. Very professional. I wish you the best of luck."

Joyce S.., New York, NY
"I really love your web site! What a great idea. I like the layout, easy to navigate, good information, and I'd like to hire you! I especially liked the welcome and activity section. We're all used to the info you see on a resume, but the welcome and activity information was more personal and frankly, more interesting."
